Tag questions are statements that end with a short question. The short question at the end can either have rising or falling pitch, and this can affect the meaning of the tag question.

- He isn’t here, is he? …
- I don’t need to finish this today, do I? …
- Jenni eats cheese, doesn’t she? …
- The bus stop’s over there, isn’t it? …
- They could hear me, couldn’t they? …
- I’m never on time, am I?
Rule4: In case helping verbs are missing from the sentence, do/does/did are used in the question tags. For example: He eats vegetables, doesn’t he? They run fast, don’t they?
For (a), the question tag for ‘Someone is whispering’ is ‘isn’t he/she? ‘ Therefore, the complete sentence is: ‘Someone is whispering, isn’t he/she?
